This assessment report details the existing situation of the use, elimination, substitution of mercury containing medical measuring devices (specifically thermometers and Sphygmomanometers) in health care facilities in Indonesia. The report also explores the status of environmentally sound management practices, including temporary stage, handling, transport, recovery, and disposal of the discarded mercury containing medical measuring devices in line with the relevant established laws and regulation of managing such devices in Indonesia. The findings of the assessment study provided the basis for the development of technical guidelines for use by health facilities and to support the country’s effort towards achieving a 100% elimination of mercury containing devices in the health sector.
